You wrote "by itself" in the first sentence, but I assume you mean "in itself", as in the rest of the post. "in itself" normally means "without including or considering anything else", but in your sentence I don't see the purpose of the phrase. I don't understand what the author is trying to say that is different from "It is the best translation of the sonnet".
