"in hexadecimal format" or "in A hexadecimal format"

Hi all, which one is correct:

"in hexadecimal format"
or
"in A hexadecimal format"?

When I searched with google, I saw that both are used, which one is correct or both of them?

Thanks in advance Emotion: smile

Both are perfectly acceptable. There is a very subtle nuance of a difference between the two, depending upon the verb tense and the use, or not, of a noun. I wouldn't worry too much though.

A slight difference but either is correct. For most Americans, the second would imply the existence of more than one hexidecimal format.

Hi guys,

When I was a computer programmer, we just said that something was 'in hex'.

It's jargon, but hexadecimal was not the kind of thing we discussed with people who were not thmselves computer people.
