Speech & Pronunciation

In / get + the/ them/ these/ those

Hi,

In casual fast conversation, how do you pronounce these combinations? The pronunciations in the parenthesis are my proposal. The underlined letters in each row are the same.

in + the (inne?)
in + them (innem?)
in + these (inese?)
in + those (inose?)

get + the (gede?)
get + them (gedem?)
get + these (gedese?)
get + those (gedose?)

Thank you very much.

In the first set, n + th > n is common. In the second set, t + th > d is possible only in those dialects where people pronounce /d/ for /th/. th, where ?

  • In the first set, n + th > n is common.
  • In the second set, t + th > d is possible only in those dialects where people pronounce /d/ for /th/.
  • th, where ?
  • is a glottal stop.

In the second set, t + th > d is possible only in those dialects where people pronounce /d/ for /th/. Otherwise, t + th > ?th, where ? is a glottal stop.

Personally, I pronounce them all fully except the ones with "them". Of those that you listed I do use these two.

gedem
