In front of

I'm studying prepositions and I believe there's only one way to really learn them: through a hard practice. So, I've made another set of sentences and completed it with the prepositions in boldface. Could you please, check them?

1- The cupboard was in front of the table in the kitchen.
2- The steamboats transport coal from east to west.

3- What can you tell me about your first snowfall?

4- Jean has recently visited a hotel only made of ice.

5- She will work for the personnel department as a secretary.

6- Smoking was prohibited at some local restaurants.

7- We should look for a brick of better quality in order to build our new house.

8. I might plan on traveling to Sweden with some friends this year.

9. He should put in applications at many different places.

10. You shouldn’t shout at me . It’s very rude.

Thanks again for your help,
Emma

Thank you, Mister!

I changed cupboard by refrigerator: "The refrigerator was in front of the table in the kitchen" . I suppose it's not odd now, isn't it?
In sentence nº4 : "Jean has recently visited a hotel made only of ice" , why is it not correct to say:"...a hotel only made of ice" ?
And in sentence nº 8 why can't I say: "I

I changed cupboard by refrigerator: "The refrigerator was in front of the table in the kitchen" . I suppose it's not odd now, isn't it?-- No, it is still odd. A normal kitchen has the cupboards, refrigerator, sink and range against the walls, and the table in front of them, somewhere near the middle of the room.

For sure! It's funny because in my country there is nothing odd in saying that "the cupboard is in front of the table" or vice-versa. It all depends how much area/space there is in the kitchen.

Best wishes,
Emma
