It is a fixed phrase functioning as a sentence adverbial. (An 'adverbial' to me is just a phrasal or clausal adverb-- what does it mean to you, Hanuman?)

Sir,

I am very thanful to you for taking a lot of pain to answer my question.I admire your patience.

Adverbial= not a single word like (certaily, mostly, usually) ,but group of word function as an adverb.

Adverb= a single word as given above in the bracket.

This is what I know about it.

Your are my "GURU" and know better.

Thanks.
