Essay & Composition Writing

In countries where there is high unemployment, most pupils should be offered only primary education. There is no point in offering secondary education to those who have no hope of finding a job. Do you agree or disagree?

In societies where the unemployment rate is accelerating at an alarming level, there is a viewpoint that middle school education should not be provided to students, especially incompetent ones. In my opinion, I fully disagree with this due to the following reasons.

First, secondary education offers students fundamental knowledge and helps train essential skills , which are valuable to their preparations for later life, not restricted solely in the workplace environment. Clearly observed, only by receiving a comprehensive education program can an individual develop thoroughly in terms of physicality, mentality, and emotion. It follows that a child, regardless of their humble starting point, if educated properly, stands an optimum chance of turning their life into a prosperous one. This may never be achieved if the child just attends a primary school. For example, juniors in poverty regions where the unemployment concern still remains can find opportunities in other areas, as long as they finish middle schools.

Some may assert that students should not be allowed to pursue their educational path if they have no positive potential of seeking themselves a job. However I would argue that to be provided with conventional education is within every child’s right, which would be inhuman of a society or government to infringe. Also, concerning one’s ability, their limited academic performance is not synonymous with that they are incapable of gaining success in the future. This has been proved by the case of Edison, a renowned scientist who used to achieve low grades in his primary school tests, and later earned reputation for the invention of light bulbs.

In conclusion, high unemployment should not be the element restraining students from entering middle schools. This can be supported by the fact that secondary education taps into improving one’s full capability, and work opportunities are still open to pupils with low academic performance.
