'in coming weeks' or 'in the coming weeks'?

Saw on TV the news said that 'the markets will remain volatile in coming weeks'. I wonder if there should be a 'the' before 'coming weeks'.

News broadcasts are, at best, summaries of events and topics for which further details are available at their website or in newspapers. Typically, brevity is necessary to fit a time slot on the broadcast; because they pay by the minute for air time. In actual usage, “in the coming weeks” and “in the coming months” would be preferred grammatically.
