hi, I will use in your profile also. On is more like on the surface od something.

... And I would say: Your profile has been updated. To update a change sounds awkward. You make a change but do not update a change.

Yeah, I didn't notice this problem before, but I totally agree with what you say that we usually use make to modify the noun change isntead of using the verb update. It does sound awkward.

I'd say it this way.

The changes have been applied to / made to your profile.

or

Your profile has been updated.
