In any pain?

Hi,

"Is she in any pain because of the blood clot?"

I guess this question means exactly the same as "Does she feel any pain because of the blood clot?"

Curiously enough, my longman does not mention this construct ("to be in ....pain") among other expressions and idioms associated with the word "pain"...
I wonder if this phrase is common enough?

thank you!

Thanks Clive!

"I wonder if this phrase is common enough?"

(1) Is it a stylistic or grammar error?
(2) Are the following "variants" any better?
  • "I wonder if this phrase is frequent enough?"
  • " I wonder if this phrase can be seen frequently enough?"
  • "I wonder if this phrase is more common than not?"
many thanks in advance

Hi,

Broadly speaking, 'enough' here means 'sufficient to meet some required level'.
Consider these two examples.
eg Tom is strong. This is a general statement.
