Hi, bbkis. Welcome to English Forums. Thanks for joining us! [<:o)]

The subjective case (she/he) is more formal. "Me" is more appropriate for close friends.

The subjective "This is I" is very rarely used.

Best wishes, - A.

you should say "THIS is ( your name" for example if your name is John you should say "this is john"

When you answer the phone at home, just say "Hello?" At work, I say "This is Barb."

If I answer the phone at home and someone asks for me by name, I say "This is she" or "This is Barb" or simply "speaking."

EDIT: I have merged the threads after answering and realizing that the same question was posted twice.

In answering the phone, I say "Hello".
Then if they ask to speak to me, using my name, I say, "Speaking".
