In an ad-hoc manner

1. Does "ad-hoc manner" mean "a unique, exclusive, and special manner"?

2. Does "and for some an objectionable" mean "some people did not like this appropriation and had complaint and objection to it"?

Text:

The revolution in Revolution was to feature a largely disconnected series of fast cuts of the feet of runners on a track, shot on coarse-grained film in a seemingly ad-hoc manner, the complete antithesis to mainstream advertising practices of the time. In its ‘inappropriate’ – and for some an objectionable– appropriation from The Beatles, the most popular of sixties rebels and, in its disregard for the aesthetic protocols of conventional advertising, this amounted to quite a radical gesture.
