Please do let me know if there are any grammatical mistakes so I can rectify my mistake

Short Plot
In 1950, a tragedy takes place in Bukit Kepong when a police station is attacked by 180 communist terrorists killing 18 policemen, and leaves a mark of communists’ brutality.

Long plot
Based on the true story about the hard-fought battle between the police force and the locals against the communists at Bukit Kepong, in the year 1950. The battle reaches its climax on 23 February at the Bukit Kepong police station, which has only 18 members, when they are attacked by 180 violent communists.

Thanks for your kind feedback, however, the plots have to be in present tense, that's the reason why I used "takes" instead of 'took".
