impulse means 'without thinking of the consequence', so if I want to use this word in my above sentence how could you frame it?

for eg: can it be as such

I still recollect how, to my husband’s surprise, on impulse I jumped at that glass of wine. / at that box of jewellery/ at that gift after reading my best friends name on the gift wrap. etc.

The above sentences are Ok I agree to that, word impulse goes well in first sentence so a word jumped.
