vsureshgive your comments ...I'm not sure that bringing in the idea of 'existing mark' and the relationships to it are the best way to contrast "improve" and "develop". "to improve" is simply to make better. Whatever the student's current abilities, they will be better if the student "improves". "to develop" involves more work on the part of the teacher.
