Hello BW

Not quite. I'll leave blanks where you need to make a change:

"I ________ to impress this girl with long legs and ___ pleasing figure in the bar, __ I drank more than I usually drink."

If you try again, I'll check it for you.

Thank you MrPedantic,

I MADE MYSELF to impress this girl with long legs and A pleasing figure in the bar, SO I drank more than I usually drink.

Why is the word " tried " wrong for the sentence?

"I tried to impress........"

Hi MrP

I do not disagree with you in the least regarding I was trying to impress.. However, we don't always need the past progressive the way you said. Consider this:

I read a book about floorball, so I learned a lot about the game.

You wouldn't say: I was reading a book if you mean you read the whole book, right? As a result of the influen
