1. My family is very important to me.

2. My family is very important for me.

I think #1 is correct. Is #2 also acceptable?

Both sentences are grammatically correct. However, they do not mean the same.

1. "My family is very important to me" means "As I think about my famil

Both are acceptable.

1. I consider my family to be important. (I love them, admire them, etc.)
2. I benefit (in some way or ways) from my family. (I could not succeed without them. I learn from them. They offer me things that are important for my well-b

I would not draw that conclusion, Teo. I think the comments that CJ made are just as valid for BE as they are for AmE.
