00Please help me to break apart and correctly interpret the meaning of this verse. In paticular, I have two questions: Is the duration of unforgiveness this world and the world to come OR does it mean that the sin can be commited in this world and the world to come. I think it is the first. I would be more grateful if you could provide a sound explaination of your answer in lamen's terms. 02br

00The "forgiving" won't occur in either this world or the next. The sin is assumed to take place in this world.02br
02br
00Two reasons: Neither in this world, neither in the world to come is closer to the the forgiving than to the speaketh-ing. And logically, it's not likley we'll be doing much speaketh-ing in the next world.02br

0 The interpretation of texts written nearly 2000 years ago and translated through two or three different languages before finally reaching English is tricky, to put it mildly, but in this case I'm fairly confident that your interpretation is correct regarding the duration of the 'unforgiveness': It's forever.02br

0Thanks very very much to both of you! So, this means that 1 John 1:9 is not a conflict which was written after the death of Jesus Christ and after the blashpemy against the Holy Spirit. And, ALL sins can be forgiven today!02br

0Perhaps this belongs in another section in the forum, but because you are anonymous, you would not get an e-mail saying it has moved. If you reply again, so I know you've read this, I'll move it to "Topic of the Moment," where a religious discussion (rather than a grammatical one) is more appropriate.0-
