Implied possessive
Hi.
"Not that the third member of the trio, Alan Pardew — "I've been vulnerable from day one here and I'm still vulnerable" — regards himself the fixture at Newcastle the length of his contract would suggest." [From The Observer.]
I find the clause ...the length of his contract would suggest somehow unattached to the rest of the sentence. To attach it I've put the implied possessive whose before the length but I'm not sure whether it works that way. I mean the fixture... whose the length of his contract...; does it work that way?
