Implement

Originally, I had an idea to start a business, but I could not implement it. I finally joined the company.

Is "could not implement it" the right phrase? or can you suggest any suitable phrase?

We usually use "implement" with a plan. In your sentence, I suggest that you use "do" in place of implement, for it sounds natural—you wanted to start a business, you could not start it.

It's all right, but it's difficult to connect "I finally joined the company" with not being able to implement your idea. What company? You don't mention anything about a company in the first part.
