Imperative/ past simple

1.( ) the door, and you can feel warm.
I think "Close" is better, but the answer is "Closing".
Why~? Isn't it an imperative sentence?
2. I did my homework an hour ago.
I was doing my homework an hour ago.
Which is correct?
