Vocabulary

Imperative

Hello,

This test question asks people to choose one word which fits the semantics.
What I got is just one sentence.
----------------
My doctor thinks it is ____ that I have a yearly physical examination.
(A) sordid
(B) malignant
(C) imperative
(D) chronic
-----------------
The given answer is (A). Somehow I feel it odd...
IMHO, (C) works better than (A)...

My doctor thinks that it is imperative that I (should) have a yearly physical examination.
imperative means extremely important, right?

So...am I right?
