More than 10 million undocumented aliens currently reside in the United States. Population is growing more than 500,000 per year. Illegal aliens find better job and give the US economy a plus value. However, it weakens national security and environment. The existence of undocumented immigrants makes problems of the US laws, resources, criminal and terrorism.
The reason why my family and I came to the United States is because there is an education difference between Japan, where I was born in, and the United States. When I was living in Japan, schools’ education system in Japan was pressure-free education. The pressure-free education reduced study range, so it made students’ academic achievement. We thought this pressure-free education would create non bright future for us. Today, the population of children in Japan is decreasing, so they have many chances to attend any college. As long as they are accepted, they can graduate their colleges even though they don’t study hard. After the college life, they have to become salary men or office ladies to earn the money. My parents did not want me to be like them, and I did not want to be like them, so we have chosen a country where it has good school education system and various futures for everyone.
I think there are more countries where creates bad education and future for children. In Korean there is the same education system as in Japan. Once they are accepted, they can graduate their colleges even though they go to party every day. The parents whose children are having this kind of education will not be able to stand it, so they want their children to have better life. For that, they should go outside of their country. Searching for any kind of information in outside of their country decides people to go to the United States since the U.S. thinks and cares about children’s future. Therefore, the purpose of people who migrate in the U.S. is for having better life and better job.
There is a similar viewpoint in both European Union and the United States. In Eastern Europe young people are less educated, so they migrate in Western Europe to get better education and better job. Other countries, such as East Asia, migrate in the United States to get the same value as in Western Europe. Those are good for Western Europe and the United States’ economics, but it’s hard to stop immigration dynamic. These countries miscalculated of this immigration, so afraid of multiculturalism. Loosing language and culture are their worries, but I think the United States is inconsistent because the country has the statue of liberty.
The symbol of the statue of liberty welcomes visitors, immigrants, and returning Americans traveling by ship. Also, it has the willingness of the U.S. to open its doors to immigrants. However, the U.S. today tends to give penalties for immigrants, particularly for illegal immigrants. I think if American people really welcome immigrants, they should not give such penalties for immigrants. For example, international students have to pay out-of-state tuition and expensive insurance. Recently, some states have started to give in state tuition to international students if they live in those states for at least three years. I hope we will get an opportunity to pay in state tuition.
Illegal immigrants pay tax, but some of them evade the tax. If they work in the U. S., they need to tell IRS that they have jobs, so they pay how much of money. It is not good thing not to pay the tax even though they can. Therefore, the U.S. government wants them to pay the tax if they want to live and have their jobs in the U.S. If there are the people who do not pay the tax, they are very suspicious for American people, and they might get caught by the police because they could be terrorists or someone else.
In conclusion, immigrants from outside the United States are looking for better lives and jobs than their countries. However, some immigrants do not pay tax, so it does not make plus value for the U.S. Because of these people, there are some penalties for immigrants, and American people want to forget about what was the statue of liberty about.
