Is it correct to understand "immersion" as "becoming into live"?

What does it mean "can sit in on" when it talks about historical events?

we used to show students videos of Jane Goodall's work in the African jungles, now with Jane Goodall's wild immersion content we can take them there. we can take them to the museums and universities they can sit in on historical events. this technology can be used for any subject in any situation to get students interested and give them a whole new perspective on learning.

I don't know what you mean by "becoming into live". It's not an English phrase. The answer is therefore probably no.

The reference is to immersion in water. When you're swimming and you go under water, you are immersed in water. You are surrounded by water.

This idea of 'immersion' is also applied to the experience of virtual reality. You feel that you are surrounded by images to the point that you feel that you are inside the world that is shown to you.
