I'm Wondering About Grammar Usage In Those Answers

Hi all,

I have some questions that I know the correct answers of them but I'm just wondering about the reason behind the grammar used.

1- Bob ________ Susan to dinner at least three times this week.

A) is taking

b) takes

C) take

D) has taken

When I see the question above, I already go for the first choice "is taking" because I know that we could use present continues for the future events. But the correct answer actually is (D). So, now I'm wondering, is it possible for (A) to be correct too.

Regarding the choice (D), I want to understand the exact meaning of the sentence

-Did the event "taking her to dinner 3 times" happen or not?

-Does that sentence imply that Bob was just planning to take Susan to dinner three times that week?

-Does the term "this week" mean that the week hasn't finished yet?

2- This luggage is quite similar to ________.

A) that one

B) those

C) in additional

D) that

The correct answer is (D), but is it (A) also correct?

---------------------------------------

3- Don't let your brothers _________ the present.

A) to see

B) seeing

C) seen

D) see

If I'm not mistaken, the correct answer is (C), but I wonder why isn't (D)?

--------------------------------------------

4- No, thank you, I don't ________ sugar in tea.

A) take

B) put

C) eat

D) drink

The correct answer is (A). I wonder about (B).

Do people usually say, for instance, "I want to take sugar in tea"?

What about "I want to put sugar in tea"? Does it sound unnatural?

Also how about "I want to add sugar in tea"?

----------------------------------------

5- Eric now rides his bike to work instead of ______ by bus.

A) travel

B) travelling

C) travels

D) to travel

I'm surprised that the correct answer is (C) while I already go for (B). Is it possible for (B) to be correct too?

-----------------------------------

6- Susan _______ to clean the car at the weekend.

A) hasn't have

B) doesn't have

C) doesn't has

D) don't have

I don't have a question about the answer here. I'm wondering about using (at) in the the question itself.

If I say Susan ___doesn't have____ to clean the car on the weekend. Is that wrong?

-------------------------------------

7- We are not used to _____ in a cold climate.

A) lived

B) live

C) living

D) lives

At first sight, I go for (B), but the correct answer is (C).

Now, when I think about it, I suppose the reason is due to using "are"? right?

If said, "we don't use to live". Here we can't use "ing" with the verb. Right?

-----------------------------------

8- Yesterday we did nothing but _____.

A) talking

B) talked

C) talk

D) had talked

The correct answer is (B) and I wonder about (C).

Also, the word after "but" should be verb or noun?

Thanks in advance
