I'm the only child

Hi,

Which of the following ones is acceptable?:

1- I'm the only child after my brother and sister have left us.

2- I'm the only child after my brother and sister's leaving home.

3- I'm the only child after my brother and sister left home/house.

And which one is better to use in #3, home or house?

I'd appreciate your concern and reply in advance,

Iman

I'd do this to avoid confusion with the term 'an only child': 1- I'm the only child at home after my brother and sister left us. 2- I'm the only child at home after my brother and sister left. 3- I'm the only child at home after my brother and sister left the house.

  • 2- I'm the only child at home after my brother and sister left.
  • 3- I'm the only child at home after my brother and sister left the house.

Dear MM,

Can't we use present perfect? "I'm the only child at home after my brother and sister have left us."

How about this? " I'm the only child at home when my brother and sister have left us."

Thanks!

Can't we use present perfect? "I'm the only child at home after my brother and sister have left us."- Yes. I am just trying to provide students with the most reasonable language.

How about this? " I will be the only child at home when my brother and sister have left us."-- OK as amended.
