I'm really confused with all those if sentences.

Okay, for so example: would, had, could, would...and all these frightening words.

and the sentences:
if you had.......what would you think

if you did.....could........
why do you think you would be a better person if.....

above are the only examples I can give right now and I am not even sure they are right, but you get the point where I am confused, right?

I really hate myself because I can't understand it, and when I try to write something I give up.

I have to understand it, have to!
