topic : research suggests that the majority of criminals who are sent to prison would commit crimes when set free? what are the reasons? what can be done to solve the problem ?

Based on the social community research, it is found that there has an alarming rate of reoffence in criminals after being released. My essay will discuss certain causes of this phenomenon and then I will suggest some measures to tackle those heightened concerns.

The major percentage of ex- prisoners returning to crime might be attributed to certain reasons. The first cause is that previously convicted individuals have to face significant challenges when re- entering labour market. In reality, the career opportunities seem to be little to no for the ex- convicts because being put in jail means that these peole will lack the essential skills and qualifications which are necessary for highly – requiring jobs as today. Another reason which should not be ignored is the subtle discrimination and prejudice of society. This is because the individuals with a stigma of incarceration are considered as a burden and glaring hazard for the public welfares and security leading to being isolated from the normal life. Living in the prolonged social alienation will drive these former prisoners more depressed and dispirited which make them easily fall prey to crimes again.

However, there are several measures to alleviate this challenging issue. one of the most effective ways is for the government to open the educational and vocational courses during their detention period. Thanks to these programs, these ex- offenders can stand on their own feet with the stable income instead of commiting repeated crimes when being set free, Moreover, the ex-detainees themselves need express the genuine repentance for their sins and the aspiration for rehabilitation accompanied by the encouragement from relatives and surrounding community which will makes them become more optimistic and beneficial for society.

In conclusion, the criminal repeatition of ex - offenders can be explained two reasons namely the difficulties in securing jobs and rehabilitating communities. This problem could be mitigated if people who ever commited crime receive the assistance of governments as well as putting their effort to harmonize with the social life.
