Is there any difference between these two sentences ? Formal /informal ? Correct/incorrect ?

I'm looking forward to your reply
I look forward to receiving your reply

They are both correct.

"I'm looking forward to" has a more informal feeling to it. I would actually say "I"m looking forward to hearing from you" - that would be the friendly way to end a letter/e-mail to a friend.

More formal is "I look forward to..." - you can either say "receiving your reply" or "your reply." Both are find and to my ear equally formal.

Why is the following sentence incoorect?
I am looking forward to hear from you.
