I'm looking for an idiom

Hello,

Is there any idiom or phrase that could express the following?

what has to be done(say, it is sth unpleasant or boring) is not worth postponing, because , in the end you will have to devote your time to do it.( you can't run from it, it's your obligation)

thanks for any help

Hi, Is there any idiom or phrase that could express the following? ( you can't run from it, it's your obligation) It''s not a 100% fit, but perhaps 'Never put off until tomorrow, what you can do today'. I'd call this a proverb.

  • For an opposite opinion, Shakespeare, in MacBeth, said If it were done when 'tis done, then 'twere well It were done quickly ...
  • What he meant by this was 'If something is finished with when you do it, it's a good idea to do it quickly'.

There's also:

"A wise person does at once, what a fool does at last." (Lord Acton)

And:

"Procrastination is the thief of time." (Edward Young)

Hi,

Yet 'Only Robinson Crusoe had everything done by Friday'.

You can use" A stich in time saves nine" when you want to emphasize the importance of doing things that have to be done before a situation gets out of control.

Hi Avatars,

'Only Robinson Crusoe had everything done by Friday'

It's a joke, because the words are misleading. To understand it, you have to know that Robinson Crusoe had a servant whose name was 'Friday'. Thus, we can say that all Robinson Crusoe's work was done by Friday.

Best wishes, Clive
