I'm looking for a verb

Hi,
I'm looking for a verb. What is it called when fluid accumulates in some part of body because of illness? I need a general word.
Is there a general word or there is a separate word for each part?

Thank you!

I can think of "edema", but that's a medical (not a general) term.

Thanks for your reply,

Isn't there any other verb that conveys the same meaning? (when fluid accumulates in some tissues of the body because of a disease)?

Thank you!

It's a noun "pus".

We normally refer only to thick greenish/yellowish fluids as pus.
