Hi Clive,

Would it be wrong to use uncapitalized versions Mathematics, Science, Philosophy in the above context?

Hi,
No, it wouldn't.

Hi Jackson

Philosophy, Science, Mathematics (You need not capitalise names of these subjects)

Science, etc Department (When department is used with the subject concerned, capitals are needed.)

English, Chinese, French, etc (These subjects need to be capitalised because they are the languages of the countries, the names of which have to be capitalised.)

You can have "in" with all of them or just at the beginning.

1: I'm interested in philosophy, science, maths, and of course, you.
2: I'm interested in philosophy, in science, in maths, and of course, in you.

Sentence 1 sounds more natural, though.

What's wrong with #2? You sure can repeat particle like those (= in) if you want, either for emphasis or any other mental problem

I suppose it could be correct as two different things are dealt with in the list, subjects and a person.

If it was: "I'm interested in science, maths, geography and in history", then it wouldn't sound right to me.
