I'm home is fine. home stands for 'at home', so it doesn't mean that the subject IS home, but that the subject is located AT home.

Millions of people say this every day. It's fine. If you want to tell someone where you are, you could say either "I'm home" or "I'm at home," but when announcing your arrival it's just "I'm home." No one is going to think you mean "I am the home."
