I'm going playing football now

Hi there,

"I'm going running now" is ok.
"I'm going playing football now" does not work, does it?

I am not aware of a "rule" for this. Anyone?

Thank you!

It seems like it works for any"physically active" activity which may be expressed by a single present participle alone. " I guess you need to cover some distance. If you say, "I'm going exercising," you wouldn't think of a treadmill.

You would say, "I'm going driving/walking/diving/swimming/dancing."

I guess you need to cover some distance. If you say, "I'm going exercising," you wouldn't think of a treadmill.
