I’m glad that ... or I’m glad to ...

Hello,

To me, both of the following two sentences are correct and meaning almost, if not completely, the same.

1- I’m glad that I hear that.

2- I’m glad to hear that.


Incidentally, here’s a resource pointing to hundreds of sentences that have used “glad that” in themselves.

But does it also mean that those thousands sentences that compromise “glad that” are all unnatural? It’s rather odd for me!
