Letter Writing

I'm Addressing or I address?

Hello,

I'm writing a speech (not a letter) to my boss and I'm not sure which which form to use:

I address to you with a request for a raise in pay.

or

I'm addressing to you with a request for a raise in pay.

Is it the same as in writing the letters:

I'm writing to you because... / I write to you because...

Waiting for your answers,

Cheers

I would use the progressive (-ing) tense in both cases.
