In some parts of the world it is becoming popular to research the history of one's
own family. Why might people want to do this? Is it a positive or negative
development?

In several countries, the number of people conducting research their family's history is significantly increasing. There are obvious reasons for people to do that. And I believe that it might have some negative effects.

To begin with, there are some reasons why people tend to find out information about the origin of their family. The first clear reason is that they are curious about their family annals. For example, an individual might be interesting to discover the fact that their great-grandfather belonged to the royal family. Additionally, researching one's own family history is the effective way to find the missing person or relatives. Today, people use the old paragraphs and the profile of the missing person with the aim of finding people used to take part in the war.

However, I would argue that this trend is negative because of a waste of time and money. It would be wise to use the amount of time for useful purposes such as improving their social skills. Moreover, this activity could have adverse impact on an individual's attitude in life. He might be ashamed of his origin. For example, a person who is a decendant of a criminal might lose confidence and feel guilty.

To conclude, the tendency to discover one's own origin is becoming more and more common in society, and I believe this is a negative development.
