Ills?

Wam apple pie, with cloves, can cure a lot of ills and bring comfort to most of us.

I wonder if apple pie actually cure diseases. Or does this mean applie pie is used to solve problems(like disputes with neighbors)?

Thanks in advance!

Well, you haven't supplied enough context to determine that, but the presumption is mental ills, I suppose: it tastes good and makes us happy.

No. I don't believe there is any evidence of that!

I think the idea is that apple pie can alleviate symptoms like minor aches and pains by focusing our attention on the wonderful taste of the pie. That makes us forget our aches and pains.

Well, now you've got me wondering - since we still have no wider context and since mariott mentioned disputes with neighbors out of the blue - could it indeed be that the intent is 'warm apple pie with cloves' can cure a lot of ill-feelings?
