"Ill Fortune"?

Hi,

Is "ill fortune" a Biblical/old-fashioned expression?

Would you use it in a formal (but not very formal) piece of writing?

And does "bad luck" mean the same thing?

Thank you.

ill fortune = bad luck. The first is in a higher register. I wouldn't say it's really old-fashioned.
