Nowadays animal experiments are widely used to develop new medicines and to test the safety of other products. Some people argue that these experiments should be banned because it is morally wrong to cause animals to suffer, while others are in favour of them because of their benefits to humanity.

It is true that animal testing has become one of the most controversial issues in contemporary life. While a number of people believe that animal experiments are morally wrong, I would argue that it may be a necssary evil for human health.

On the one hand, there are clear arguments against animal experimentations. Firstly, it caused a lot of excruciating pain in animal's bodies. For instance, in a cosmetic laboratory, the researchers carry out experiments to test the level of irritation on the skin and eyes of rabbits without any pain medication for them. Then, they are killed rather than released into the wild. As a result, some people suppose that the benefits of research using animals do not justify the suffering caused. Secondly, some believe that all creatures in the world have the right to live and thrive and their lives should be respected. Furthermore, humans have no moral right to do experiments on them.

On the the other hand, I am firmly of the opinion that animal testing is crucial to some studies for medical purposes. Firstly, animal experimentations have been contributed to the development of many treatments. Perhaps, the opponents will easily accept that using animal in experiments is essential for human health, if the patients who need medicine to sustain living are their relatives. Another equally critical reason is that animals are appropriate research subjects because they are quite similar to humans in many aspects. For example, in terms of genetic, mice are 98% like human. They are also biologically susceptible to common humans diseases such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes. Therefore, animals are used in important scientific research.

For the reasons mentioned above, it is better to conduct animal research for worthy aims in saving humans.
