Question

The chart illustrates the number of residences who have accommodation and rentin England and Wales during a 93- year period from 1918.

Overall , during the first half of the period, the percentage of households in rented accommodation was higher than that of those owning their own home and this trend is reversed over the last 30 years. Strikingly, the percentage of household in owned accommodation and that of those in rented accommodation followed opposite trends.

Subsequently , starting at more than 20 percent in 1918 , the number of households in owned accommodation in England and Wales experience a significant increase to less than 65 in 2011.

However, there was a fair decrease from around 75 to about 40 after 63 year later in the number of household in rented accommodation .Which then lowered by about 35 until 2011

The chart illustrates (Not a good verb. Use "illustrate" of pictures like maps and diagrams. Not for graphs and charts. Use "plot, give, compare or show" for graphs. ) the number I(The units of measure are not numbers. Numbers would be 56,342 or 2,947,434) of residences who have accommodation (Accommodation can be rented property. Not the right word.) and rentin England and Wales during the a 93- year period from 1918 . to 2011.

Example opening paragraph

The bar chart shows the changes in the percentages of families living in England and Wales who owned their own homes over the 93-year period from the end of World War I (1918) to 2011. Nine points in time are shown: 1918, 1939, 1953 and then every decade from 1961 to 2011. Those who did not own their homes lived in rented accommodation, and this measure is also on the chart.

(It is not striking at all. There are only two options for living: rent and own. So the total must always add up to 100 percent. If one goes up, the other must go down.)

What starting year did you use?) in the number (Wrong word) of household (You need to use the plural form) in rented accommodation .Which then lowered by about 35 until 2011 (That is not a sentence. )

At the beginning of the period, 1918, 78% lived in rented housing, and the remaining 22% owned their own homes. At that time, there began a general upward trend in home ownership, increasing to a peak of 70% in 1991. There was an intervening period (1939-1953) where the percentage hovered around 33%; that is, one third of the population owned their homes and two-thirds rented. In 1953, the increase in ownership resumed. The numbers of owners and renters were equal (50% each) in 1971. The steepest rise in home ownership was between 1953 and 1971, increasing at a rate of about 1% per year, as more and more people in this population elected to be homeowners.

After another stable period, 1992-2001, the trends reversed and the percentage of home ownership declined from its peak of 70% to 65% at the end of the period, 2011. The graph can be divided into five time periods: first,1918-1939, with increasing home ownership, second, 1939-1953, a period of stability, third, 1953-1991, with a rapid growth in ownership, fourth,1991-2001, a period of stability and fifth, 2001-2011, with a decline in ownership.

*Calculation:

ownership in 1953 = 32%;

ownership in 1971 = 50%

That is a difference of 18% (50-32) over 18 years (1971-1953) or 1 percent per year.
