if you'd .... (is this correct?)

Dear all,
Will you please tell me if the following sentences are correct?

a). If you would reserve the seats, we would be sure of a comfortable journey.

b). If you would help me with my homework, I would lend you my video game.

In my opinion, we can't use "would" in the If-clause. The sentences should have been a)- "If you reserved..., we would be sure...." and b)- "If you helped..., I would lend...".

Could you please make it clear to me?

Yes, but "bargaining would" is an exception. This is also called "reciprocal would". In this grammatical pattern would occurs in both clauses. Your second example certainly belongs in this category.
