If you'd have told

"If you'd have told me before the game it would be 0-0 I would have taken that but I think Arsenal can do something here." (BBC Sport website.)

Is "If you'd have told me..." the same as "If you had told me..." in the above?

There are some of us (a minority, I admit) who feel that this 'incorrect' form should be acknowledged as part of the English language. It does not fit into the generally accepted pattern of tenses/aspects, but perhaps that should lead us to question the generally accepted pattern.

Okay... this is so common in American English that I I'm surprised that anyone would say it's incorrect these days.

I would have told you, if you had asked. -- We agree this is correct, by any standard, right?
