Grammar

If you ever/once need any hepl, just let me know.

Hi teachers!

The following is from a grammsr book I study now and it says only 'ever' is suitable for this sentence. I do not know why #2 is ungrammatical.

1. If you ever need any help, just let me know.

2. If you once need any help, just let me know.

Many thanks!

Michelle Cha2. If you once need any help, just let me know.

"Once" makes no sense there.

I will help you once more. = I h

Michelle Cha I do not know why #2 is ungrammatical.

"if you once" is very rare, and when used it typically goes with a past tense with the meaning "at one time (in the past)".

You might be able to qualify for this type of loan if you once owned a home.
