Grammar

if you are a film lover

Hi,

I'm looking for movies in which a line like "are you on line?" and/or "I could care less" is used.

My point here is that the both expressions above are, I believe, irregular usages of English. "On line" should be a common expression for some reason in NY, instead of "in line" and so is "could care less" in the states, unlike "couldn't care less" in the U.K.

I would like to show (not explain) to some of my friends that these kinds of grammar are correct, even though they are not, logically. I would appreciate if you could come up with some movies that fit my target. I remember a certain episode from "The Office" in which "I could care less" is used but the context was a bit weak to my expectation.

Thank you,
M

You can do a search like this in Google: movie quote "I could care less" Even though a character in a movie may say something, it isn't necessarily correct grammar/syntax. I just watched an episode of How I Met Your Mother where one of the characters misuses the word "literally" constantly to the dismay of another character.
