If + Will

Sorry I know there way too many threads about it but:

Take a look here:

Scroll down and you will see:

If we are talking about future results rather than conditions, an if - will clauseis used. So here is the first exception to the rule:

If (you think) it will save our marriage, I'll try to give up drinking.

I'll help to pay the course fees, if that will persuade you to apply to university.

Take the whole of next week off, if that will help you to recover.
I did not understand that part above, would you mind to explain it better?

I call this the 'bargaining' use of IF + WILL. The speaker is bargaining, trying to make a deal. If you will do this, I will do that.

Hi,

Nice definition you've got here.

Well I can see both clauses has "will" in them, but I don't understand why

what I know from english language history and grammar, structure, is that after will an "if" will never come...

it is either you being wrong, or I missed something.

after will an "if" will never come...

I think you intended to say "'will' never occurs after 'if'".

In any case it's not true. "Never" is not a word that often applies in the world of English grammar.

Here's another way to look at it. It's like adding 'the result is that' after 'if'

If (you think) it will save our marriage, I'll try to give up drinking.

If the result is that it will save our marriage, I'll try ...

I'll help to pay the course fees, if that will persuade you to apply to university.
