"If we are good, we can keep" meaning

Before asking anything, let me explain the context: There are two friends, a woman and a man. The woman is thinking that the man is interested in her romantically just because they spend time together, but there is no such thing, and the woman never talks about this openly. One evening, she goes to the man's house, and says that she's been offered a job in another city, and that she is going away unless he wants her to stay. There is a gap here in the flow of the story, but later we learn that the woman went away. Anyway, on Christmas, being in another city now, she sends a card to him, on which that sentence (If we're good...) is written.

So my question is, what is meant by that "good"? Is she saying "if we have got over what happened (on that evening, maybe), we can be friends again"? Or is she suggesting something more than friendship?

Sorry for the long context.

If we're good isn't a sentence, as you claim it is. Even though you have taken the trouble to explain the context in great detail, you have left us hanging with just three words of a sentence, not the whole sentence. Or are you saying that the only words she wrote on the card were If we're good?

Ah.

Even though I asked myself "Keep what?" in the first place, I don't think it is as blurry as the first part "If we are good". We encounter similar situations every day, and not everything is grammatical and complete in real life. I mean, if I were the man, I wouldn't ask myself "What will we keep?" She probably means their friendship there, maybe something more intimate than that.

You're right! I also thought that she wants to continue their relationship in that "keep" part. As I said before, with "If we are good," maybe she means, if they have recovered from w

In the Christmas tradition, if children are good all year (they behave and act properly), then they will get the gifts they desire.

It could just be a reference to that. If we have been good, and are good, we will get what we want.
Then you have to guess what they want...

Thank you.

Some people make what they want obvious, with others, you have to guess.
