If this sentence correct or not?

The story started with a rich man coming to let the Netherfirld Park,an expensive estate which was near the place where the Bennets lived.

I have a serval questions on this sentnce(is this correct in using "on"??)

why it is using coming???Are using to come or come fine?

Is it necessary in using "was" before "near"???Why?

If "was" was not used,would it be correct also? Why?

Also,can "where" be omitted???Why?

i know i have a lot of questions,but,i would thank you a lot if you could help me,thz!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well! the whole story is in past tense so ' was' is used as a helping verb. and' where' is a relative pronoun which joins 2 or more sentences together.

e.g. this is the place 'where ' i was born.
this is the house which is very messy.

where shows time, place etc. ' which' is used for non living things and animals.

here, coming is used as participle. ' on' is ok. you can use' over' too.
