If this morning you finally woke up from a coma, you might want to go back

People Magazine's article starts with this:

Trevor Noah started Wednesday's episode of The Daily Show in disbelief over Donald Trump's win in the presidential election. "If this morning you finally woke up from a coma, well, you might want to go back," Noah said, before playing news footage of anchors calling Trump's victory.
My question is about the quote, which is a conditional construction, and is as follows:
Does the conditional construction fall into the category of describing a unreal, hypothetical event? (In which case, it's also possible to use "had woken" instead of "woke".)
Or does it fall into the category of describing a real, past event? (In which case, it's not possible to use "had woken" instead of "woke".)

It's about a possible past situation with a possible present consequence.
