If this has to be true, then there should be a giant...

Please make corrections/edits to the following sentence:

If this has to be true, then there have to be a giant with the height of several thousands meters who have such sharp eyesight that he could calculate the stones lying on the Equator standing on the North Pole.

I found one abnormality in Jackson's sentence. I think that "could" should be replaced by "can" in "he could calculate the number of stones lying on the Equator."
