Hi,

Which is correct?

If X is Y, then Z is Y and K is T.

or

If X is Y, then Z is Y, and K is T.

That is, I am asking whether is a comma before "and."

What do you mean by "strict choice"?

If this is a research paper, should I use the "strict choice"? Is that what you mean?

Strictly, a comma must separate independent clauses if there is a coordinating conjunction. However, if the clauses are multiple, short and simple, then commas can seem cluttered. I myself would omit the comma.
